Denver 2019

September 16-19, 2019, Denver Centennial Airport

At the end of July, 1945 the shiny new airframe that became the famous WWII Flying Fortress Texas Raiders rolled off the assembly line in Long Beach, California.  The ensuing seventy years have seen the big bomber proudly serve her country in the military, in civilian aviation, and now as a flying museum for the Commemorative Air Force.   Freshly painted in the colors of the “Mighty Eighth” Air Force in WWII and displaying fresh new nose art, Texas Raiders continues her 2019 touring season with a visit to Denver, Co, September 16-19, 2019.

The United States built over 12,700 B-17’s and fewer than a dozen still fly today.  CAF B-17 Texas Raiders was the first Flying Fortress to be restored solely for the purpose of education and use as a flying museum, and is one of the most accurately restored B-17’s, bristling with machine guns and featuring period-specific equipment.

It’s a classic barnstorming visit to Denver. The public is invited to enjoy an on-board tour with the aircraft crew, or take the ultimate Living History Flight Experience and see Denver from the sky!  Join us at the Boeing Blue Sky Aviation Gallery, 13005 Wings Way (off Isbill Rd), at Denver Centennial Airport. Tours of the aircraft are $10 for adults, $5 for children. Flights on the Flying Fortress start at $475.  Tours start at 1:00 PM Monday and 10:00 AM Tuesday through Wednesday and run through 5:00 PM each day. Those who wish to fly on Texas Raiders can call 1-855-FLY-A-B17 (1-855-359-2217) or reserve on line at www.B17TexasRaiders.org.
