Colorado Springs Airshow 2019

Pikes Peak Regional Airshow, Colorado Springs, CO, September 20-22,  2019

It has been 70 years since the last B-17 lifted into the air during WWII to join the largest air armada ever to fill the skies, but on Friday June 16 the four giant Wright-Cyclone engines of Texas Raiders, a fully restored B-17 Flying Fortress will be roaring over Colorado Springs, CO.  Of the 12,731 B-17s built during WWII, only 9 are actively flying—including Texas Raiders, which is part of the Commemorative Air Force.  One of the last flying examples of the famous aircraft arrives Friday September 20 in Colorado Springs to participate in the Pikes Peak Regional Airshow.

Texas Raiders will be offering tours at the airshow and flights before and after the airshowon Friday, Saturday and Sunday September 20-22 at Colorado Jet Center, 1575 Aviation Way, Colorado Springs, CO.

Texas Raiders was the first Flying Fortress to be operated solely for the sake of preservation and use as a flying museum.  She is one of the most accurately restored B-17’s, and bristles with machine guns and features period-specific equipment.  The public can visit the aircraft at the airshow and can take a walk-through tour that includes commentary from crew members.  Attendees who want the ultimate Flying Fortress experience can make a reservation now for one of the limited number of 25-minute flights on the classic aircraft.  Flights on the B-17 begin at $475.

The public is invited to come out to attend the 2017 Pikes Peak Regional Airshow to tour the aircraft and meet her crew.  Those who wish to fly with Texas Raiders are encouraged to call 1-855-FLY-A-B17   (1-855-359-2217) or reserve on line at www.B17TexasRaiders.org.

Cockpit tours are available at the airshow Saturday and Sunday beginning at 9:00 AM each day, and are conducted throughout the day, excluding flight times.

See the iconic B-17 Flying Fortress open the airshow each morning with the national anthem and a parachute jump with the US Air Force Academy Wings of Blue jump team. Watch as the American flag is delivered to the show from the doors of Texas Raiders bomb bay! Click here to view the Pikes Peak Regional Airshow website.
